Pears are my and my son’s favorite fruit and I use them for preparing numerous dishes, jams, and desserts. If like pears and you haven’t ever tried to prepare a pasta meal with it, now is the time. This is my favorite combination of sweet and salty… pears and smoked bacon! I just love it! It is a simple and really fast recipe, which is a great solution for all those who get home after a long day and don’t want to stay in the kitchen for more than 20 minutes. Cooking dinner on work days can sometimes seem like your worst nightmare, but other than this recipe, on my blog you can find some really delicious and healthy pasta dishes ready in just 20 minutes. That is one of the reasons I love pasta! There are endless combinations of healthy ingredients that can be prepared in no time for a super tasty dinner. Ok, the photos look quite amateur, not sharp at all, I had some tremor problems I guess… I’m getting old 🙂 I will need to work on my photography skills I know, but one step at the time… Let’s go back to the recipe …
This is the simplest version of the pears and bacon pasta recipe, but like most of pasta recipe, this one too is very versatile and you can add different kinds of herbs (rosemary, oregano or mint) and prepare pears in various ways. If you have less time for preparing dinner go with this recipe, but I recommend you to try also to prepare it with caramelized pears… wow! That is so yummy, trust me! You can caramelize the pears by adding 4 tbsp of butter, melt it in a skillet, add diced pears and cook over high heat for 5 minutes. Then add 2 tbsp of sugar (honey or agave syrup) and cook for another 5 minutes or until pears become golden and caramelized. Then you add cooked smoked bacon, herbs, cooked pasta and you toss well to coat. Very easy recipe to prepare and extremely tasty! 🙂
Another variation that you can make is that you can add blue cheese like gorgonzola when adding bacon, but this is something I would do in the first version of the recipe, not the one with caramelized pears, but if you try it that way, let me now how it tastes… You can use any type of pasta for this recipe, I used these colorful farfalle I made at home the other night (will post the recipe soon), but in Italy pasta with pears and bacon or pears and gorgonzola is usually prepared with linguine pasta…
Enjoy your pasta! 🙂
